secondary machining

Drilling, tapping, boring and reaming

Hole-making and finishing operations applied as primary or secondary processes across turned, milled and fabricated components.

Hole-making operations are frequently integrated into a broader manufacturing route. Drilling establishes a hole, tapping produces an internal thread, boring corrects or enlarges an existing bore, and reaming can finish a hole to a controlled size and surface condition.

Process selection

The selected operation depends on the drawing requirement, starting condition, material, depth, diameter, thread form and required finish. A single component may use several of these operations in sequence.

Inspection

Thread gauges, dimensional measurement and drawing-specific verification methods are assigned according to the feature requirement.
